Welcome to my lil’ corner of Beyoncé’s internet, chile! 🙋🏾‍♀️

I’m Jazmine, with a Z.

I'm a funny, sensitive, extroverted, homebody Black girl who is on the perpetual journey home to myself. I'm a proud alumna of THE Ohio State University and a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. I generally love everyone (long as your spirit right and you got some sense!), but my heart is for Black girls, women and femmes. I write to free myself, and others. I primarily write about Black womanhood, Black culture, Black spirituality and some occasional mess. My tone is just like me: insightful, honest, relatable, and funny af. Some of my pieces address the reader as "Sis" in one way or another, but if that isn't your pronoun, please don't take offense. I just always write with my target audience in mind. But to all who have an open mind and a desire to be a part of a magical, blooming community, welcome! Drinks are in the back!

I love to read. I love to write. I love to learn. And when I think about it, I've been a blogger since like 2003. I really was out here coding and designing on MySpace! Then came Lights, Camera, Jazmine on Blogspot. Then came Jesus and Carmex on Tumblr, which I turned into an official blog. And now, here I am, blooming. I've had many spaces online, but I thought it was time to recreate (for the final time) a space that truly reflects my passions, my complexities, my greatness. So in January 2017, I officially launched Jazmine is Blooming.

Jazmine is Blooming is a metaphor. Literally, jasmine is a flower that has many different species, and grows in many different environments. Like the flower, I have a myriad of identities and layers, and environments that I frequent. As a law student, web designer, writer, podcast host, occasional content creator AND full time hottie, I really do thrive in so many places! 💁🏾‍♀️

Blooming has been my life's metaphor since 2016. Blooming is about embracing all stages of the growth process: not just the sun, but the rain, the weeding, the need to be deeply rooted on a solid foundation, and leaving your comfort zone so you can really flourish. Merriam-Webster’s definition is, “to come to or be in full beauty or health; to become radiant and glowing.” And honestly, that's what I'm all about. And the decision to use the present participle form of the word was extremely intentional, because my blooming is ongoing. I’m always growing, evolving, rising and flourishing. What a blessing. 🌼

Thanks for visiting, and here's to blooming! It's the wave, it's the movement, it's the energy! Let's be friends! 💜✨🥂
